We MUST have this data from you! Even if you will NOT attend the “Land-Based Reunion” and ONLY intend to ride the Grant bus from the hotel to the cruise ship.

 

As the old saying goes: “It’s time to fish or cut bait!” We are about two months from the start of the 2011 USS Grant “Land-Based” Reunion AND USS Grant “Cruise” Reunion.

 

Now is the time that we MUST have firm head-counts for:

 

1) Grant Airport-to-Hotel Shuttle riders (10/6-10/9) (Wed-Sun),

2) Grant Bus to/from the Space Center (10/8) (Saturday),

3) USS U.S. Grant Dinner attendees (10/9) (Sunday),

4) Grant Bus riders from Hotel-to-Ship (10/10) (Monday),

5) Grant Hotel-to-Airport Shuttle riders (10/10) (Monday) and

6) Grant bus riders from Ship-to-Hotel (10/15) (Saturday).

 

We must have this data to reserve the appropriate transportation needed to support the reunion. We also need this data to schedule and set-up the Sunday night Grant dinner. We are required to pay for the transportation and the dinner in advance to “lock-in” the prices.

 

Please use the next page of this sheet to determine your “2011 USS Grant Reunion Registration/Transportation/Dinner” fees. Complete the FORM and mail it, with your check, to the Treasurer of the USS Grant Alumni Association at the address listed on the bottom of the FORM.

Association Selects "Land-Based" Reunion Site

The Grant Association announces an agreement with the Casa del Mar
Beachfront Suites to host the 2011 USS U.S. Grant Land-Based portion
of the reunion.

The Casa del Mar is located across the street from the Gulf on Galveston Island.
Every suite has an ocean view.  All suites have a separate bedroom and the capability of lodging four adults and two children for one reasonable daily rate.
A fully furnished kitchen is also provided in each suite.   And the best news is that the average cost per night is only $84 (before taxes).

Thursday - October 6th
1600               USS Grant Hospitality Room opens
                       (Munchies, Beer, Wine, Liquor, Soft Drinks, etc.)
1800-2400      MidRats for arriving shipmates (Soup, Sandwich material, Dessert)
         [All shipmates MUST  register with the Reunion Coordinators upon arrival.]
2400 (About)    Hospitality Room closes.

Friday - October 7th
0700-0800    Grant Hospitality Room "Hot Breakfast"
                      (Coffee, Tea, Juice, Milk, Cereals, Oatmeal, Waffles, Sausage, Toast, etc.)(Varies Daily)
0800-0900    Continental Breakfast in Hospitality Room.
0800              Grant Golf Outing at Moody Gardens Golf Course.

1400              Bus  departs FROM Space Center Houston and returns to hotel.
1830-2000    "Grant Cook-Out" with Hot dogs and/or Brats and/or Hamburgers (with fixings), 
                       BBQ Beans, Coleslaw, Chips, Drinks, and Dessert.  
2000               USS Grant Association Board/Cmtee meetings in Sunset Room.
2000-2230     Shuttle will be available for groups of at least 6 to/from selected island
                       restaurants.
2400 (About)  Hospitality Room closes.

Sunday - Oct 9th
0700-0800    Grant Hospitality Room "Hot Breakfast"
0800-0900    Continental Breakfast in Grant Hospitality Room.

1000              Shipmate Remembrance
aboard USS Cavalla SS244, followed by tours of
                      the Cavalla conducted by USS Grant “diesel boat” sailors.
1230 (About) Shipmates return to hotel.
1230-1330    "Light Lunch" in Hospitality Room.  (Soup, Salad, Cold Sandwiches, Dessert)
1200-1700     OPEN TIME: Shuttle runs for groups of at least 6 to/from Moody Gardens,
                       Railroad Museum, The Strand, Seaport Museum, OceanStar Drilling Platform,
                       Lone Star Flight Museum, etc.

2100 (About)   Hospitality Room opens.  Welcome late-arriving “cruise-only” shipmates!
2100 (About)   MidRats for late-arriving shipmates and all hands.
2400 (About)   Hospitality Room closes and ends the 2011 USS U.S. Grant “Land” Reunion.

Monday - Oct 10th
0700-0830     Continental Breakfast
1000               Grant Shuttle departs hotel for Houston Hobby Airport.  This is the ONLY shuttle run.
1130               First bus departs for Galveston Cruise Terminal. 
1230               Second bus departs for Galveston Cruise Terminal.
